Kathmandu Valley records highest single day COVID-19 case

 Kalpana Acharya\ Kathmandu : The number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths and cases continues to surge in Nepal.

The country today reported 12 deaths and 927 new cases in the past 24 hours. The Kathmandu Valley alone accounted for 415 new cases, the highest daily caseload so far. With this, Nepal’s total COVID-19 tally has reached 36,456 with 195 deaths, said the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

So far there are 16,019 active cases in the country, while 20,242 have been successfully cured and discharged from various hospitals, said MoHP Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor  Gautam. Still, there are 8,939 people in different quarantine centres and 16,019 in isolation. A total of 658,110 PCR tests carried out across the country so far. Owing to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the federal, provincial and local governments have imposed lockdowns in many parts of the country.
